Leif Randt, born in Frankfurt in 1983, primarily writes novels. He became known to a wider audience with his utopian works Schimmernder Dunst über CobyCounty (Shimmering Mist over CobyCounty, 2011) and Planet Magnon (2015). His works are often based around idealised worlds of longing and desire. He has previously travelled to Japan, Indonesia and Russia with the Goethe-Institut. Leif is co-curator of the online label tegelmedia.net, which focuses on everyday anecdotes about life in the age of smartphones. His acclaimed love story Allegro Pastel was published in March 2020 and has been nominated for a number of awards, including the 2020 German Book Prize.
