Book-to-Screen Prague: Best Practices for a Successful Collaboration with the Film Industry

Talk
English

How do books find their way to the screen? Is a successful book the key to a successful film? What distinguishes a bestselling book from a good screenplay? How far can and should screenwriters stray from the book? How can the wit, charm and originality of the material be preserved? To what extent do book authors and filmmakers work together? What kind of books are film producers looking for? What role do book festivals and film festivals play?

Programme

In this talk, Czech producer Ondřej Zima and Director & Screenwriter Jan Tesitel will give an insight into their collaboration around the adaption of the bestselling novel Stvůra by Kristýna Trpková (Kalibr Publishing) and discuss the journey of a book adapted for the screen with Niki Théron, in charge of film at Frankfurter Buchmesse.

This event is organized by CEEBM – Central and Eastern European Book Market in cooperation with Frankfurter Buchmesse.
