Talk
Online Spanish

The Argentinean writer María Cecilia Barbetta was born in the Ballester district of Buenos Aires, has lived in Berlin for 25 years and writes in German. The setting for her novels "Aenderungsschneiderei Los Milagros" and "Nachtleuchten" is her native Buenos Aires.

Programme

Is this her literary universe par excellence or could there be other literary places, for example the city where she lives? Is it possible to write better from a distance? What are the challenges of writing about a Latin American reality in a language other than Spanish? Is it her intention to write a kind of world literature? These are some of the questions she will discuss with literary translator Lutz Kliche.
