Lutz Kliche graduated as master of social sciences at the University of Marburg. From 1980 he was program manager at the Peter Hammer publishing house, Wuppertal/Germany. From 1985 to 1989, he was advisor to the Nicaraguan Ministry of Culture, headed by the poet Ernesto Cardenal. He was director of different editorial projects in the Central American region, to assume, in 1999, the function of head of the non-fiction program at the Patmos Verlagshaus, Düsseldorf/Germany. He is translator of the works of Ernesto Cardenal, Eduardo Galeano, Sergio Ramírez, Gioconda Belli, Mario Benedetti, Fernando del Paso and several other Latin American writers into German. He is a member of the German PEN Center and the Association of Literary Translators, among others.
