MaroVerlag

MaroVerlag is an independent German publishing house, founded in 1970. Its breakthrough came in 1974 with the publishing of German translations of Charles Bukowski’s poems and short stories. Maro acquired further reputation with titles of US-American Beatnik authors and discovered numerous German authors. Next to the literary programme, the series »gallery books« features textile design and textile art. Further emphasis lies on typography as well as social policy and social pedagogy. Maro was honoured with several prizes: In 2002 it was rewarded the »Kurt-Wolff-Preis«, in 2019 and 2020 the »Deutsche Verlagspreis«.
