Greek Scholar, Literary Translator and Author

Elena Pallantza, born in Athens (1969), is a Greek scholar, literary translator, and author. She studied Classical Philology in Athens and received her PhD in Freiburg, Germany. In 2004-2005, she studied Intercultural Education in Cologne. From 2006-2010 she was a research assistant at the Institute for Classical Philology at the University of Bonn, where she still teaches Modern Greek language and literature. From 2005-2008 she was a correspondent for the Greek literary magazine DIAVAZO on modern German literature. She writes poetry and short prose and translates from Greek into German and vice versa. In 2013, she founded the translation circle LEXIS at the University of Bonn, with which she translates modern Greek literature into German.
