After graduating in Geography and History at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Jordi Roca spent a year in Lisbon on a scholarship, and four years in Hamburg, where he studied German Philology. Whenever he could, he travelled the European continent by interrail, reading the fiction of the countries he visited. On returning to Barcelona, he worked as a lecturer of German at the Universitat de Barcelona. Since 2002, Jordi Roca has been living in Frankfurt am Main. In 2003, he started working for the Literary Agency MertinWitt as assistant to the agency’s founder Ray-Güde Mertin. After another year as a teacher, travelling the world and discovering the Latin American literature, he came back to the agency in 2007 and since then has been taking care of foreign rights for the agency’s authors. Jordi Roca regularly travels to Spain and is an annual participant at the book fairs in Frankfurt, Paris and Turin.
