Publishing Editor and Literary Scholar

Thomas Sparr, born in Hamburg in 1956, is a German publishing editor and literary scholar. He studied literature and philosophy, and has held teaching positions at the University of Hamburg and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Sparr was chief editor of Siedler Verlag and deputy publishing director of Suhrkamp Verlag from 2006 until the publishing house became a public limited company in early 2015. He is also an authorised representative on the board of Literaturbrücke e. V., the supporting association of the Haus für Poesie in Berlin.
