A playwright at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) and lecturer in Theatre Studies at the Taipei National University of the Arts and the National Taiwan University of Arts, Keng Yi-Wei will be Artistic Director of the Tainan Arts Festival from 2023. Keng Yi-Wei received his Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Arts of National Taiwan University and studied pantomime at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Faculty of Music and Dance (HAMU). He was Artistic Director of the Taipei Arts Festival (2012-2017) and Taoyuan Iron Rose Music Festival (2018-2022), was awarded the German Institute Taipei Friendship Medal (2017) and the French Friendship Medal Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2019). In 2020, he curated the exhibition “Between Earth and the Sky: The Spiritual State of Our Times” at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and founded the Hualien Performing Public Space Festival. His most recently published book is “Keywords for Cultural Leadership” (2018). Yi-Wei Keng is also a translator of various books in the field of theatre, including his translation into Chinese of the Cambridge Introduction to Theatre Studies (2010).
