Esther Kinsky, born 1956 in Engelskirchen, is a writer and translator from Polish, Russian and English. She was a finalist for the 2014 German Book Prize and has received numerous awards, including the Adalbert von Chamisso Prize in 2016 and the 2018 Leipzig Book Fair Prize in fiction for her novel Hain: Geländeroman (Engl. Grove: Novel of the Land). She received the Kleist Prize for her most recent novel Rombo, which was nominated for the 2022 German Book Prize and is a candidate for the 2023 European Strega Prize. Esther Kinsky lives in Berlin.
