Works as translator, as well as ghostwriter for musicians such as Gil Scott-Heron, Duff McKagan of Guns n’ Roses, and Paul Stanley of KISS; also the author of Burning Down the Haus (German title: Stirb nicht im Warteraum der Zukunft), a history of punk rock in East Germany and the role of dissident musicians in the revolution of 1989.

What are your main focuses and goals?

Because my initial exposure to German language was as a DJ in Berlin, I tend to connect with authors who have unique voices and stories that perhaps defy the expectations of English-language readers.

What do you hope to get out of the Frankfurt International Translators Programme?

In attending my first Frankfurt Buchmesse, I hope to expand on my knowledge of the German literary scene and find potential projects and publishing partners, of course. But I also look forward to enjoying the camaraderie, enthusiasm, and expertise of other international translators, as I’ve always found great inspiration in the few opportunities I’ve had to interact with German translators from around the globe.
