Works as a translator
What are your main focuses and goals?
I am interested in discovering fresh, thought-provoking literary voices – whether contemporary or past. In my translations of Gabriele Tergit, I have focused on recuperating Tergit’s brisk, critical voice as one that delivers new perspectives on the historical experience of Germans, and German Jews in particular. I am fascinated by authors who turn their subjects inside-out, write from displaced positions, or play with the possibilities of language.
What do you hope to get out of the Frankfurt International Translators Programme?
I look forward to the exchange with other translators and publishers, and especially to dip into the great breadth of contemporary German writers. The dialogue and new horizons opened up by the Programme will be invaluable for delivering new impulses to my work.
