Literary Translator German into Indonesian
Acquisition Editor of Moooi Pustaka Publisher, Indonesia

What are your main focuses and goals?/

In Indonesia, the number of German literature and the German literary translators are still small. Many of world literary works, including from German, were also in the past translated from English–relay translation. My publisher and I have tried to change that paradigm: we translate the important literary works from their original languages. In one hand, it is such a pride and honor for me as one of those little number of German literary translators. On the other hand, it was my huge challenge as i did my first translation; i had to face a lack of networking with the other translators. The efforts of me and my publisher have the same goal through our projects: with translating and publishing the German literary works, both of classic and contemporary, we try to enrich the treasury of the literature in our country and presenting the different reading experiences—including reading the important world literary heritages.

What you hope to get out of the Frankfurt International Translators Programme?

Translating literary works is often such of a solitary undertaking, and a network is such a keyword from being not isolated. By participating this Frankfurt International Translators Programme, I hope to gain a broader network and more insights into many aspects in translation and publishing.
