Dilek Dizdar is Professor of Intercultural German Studies / Translation Studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. She studied at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul and received her doctorate from Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg in 2006. For her work in the field of translation studies, the Mainz Academy of Sciences and Literature honoured her with the Colloquia Academica in 2009. Since 2020, Dizdar has been Dean of the Department of Translation, Linguistics and Cultural Studies at the University of Mainz, which is a world-renowned institution for translation studies research and the training of translators and interpreters.
