Judith Schalansky, born in Greifswald in 1980, studied Art History and Communication Design. Her books, including the internationally successful bestseller Atlas of Remote Islands (2009), the Bildungsroman The Giraffe’s Neck (2011), and An Inventory of Losses (2018) have been translated into more than 20 languages and have received numerous awards. She is the editor of a prestigious German book series called Naturkunden (Natural History) and lives as a freelance writer and book designer in Berlin.
