Dr. Christoph Müller works at the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Ibero-American Institute of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation) in Berlin as deputy director of the library, director of the Digital Library Department, and director of the collections on Central America, Colombia, Venezuela, and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean.
He studied Romance Philology and Art History at the RWTH Aachen (Aachen University of Technology). He earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy and Letters with a dissertation on 18th-century Portuguese literature.
His research interests include digital transformation in libraries and Latin American literature from the 19th to the 21st centuries (specifically comics, (fan)zines, and science fiction).
He is the principal investigator of the Mecila: Maria Sibylla Merian International Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences Conviviality-Inequality in Latin America, funded by the Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space), Vice President of REDIAL —European Network for Information and Documentation on Latin America—and European coordinator of the Latindex journal information system. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Verein Deutscher Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare (Association of German Librarians) and spokesperson for the Bibliothek & Information International Committee of Bibliothek & Information Deutschland (BID) (Library and Information Germany).
