Simone Bühler has been Head of the Guest of Honour Project at the Frankfurter Buchmesse since 2004, where she is responsible for the development and implementation of one of the most prominent international cultural programmes in the publishing industry.

She studied Romance Studies, Political Science and International Relations at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt and in Lisbon. She has been active in the fields of book fairs, cultural exchange, literary mediation and translation since 1996. Before coordinating the Guest of Honour appearances, her work included the organization of international book exhibitions and fair presentations as well as translations from Portuguese
