His novels are characterised by stylistic precision, irony, a dense network of cultural and historical references, and a critical examination of bourgeois society. His tragicomic family novel Eurotrash explores personal and historical inheritance, guilt and memory; its English edition was longlisted for the 2025 International Booker Prize.
