Johanna Sebauer is an Austrian writer and a distinctive voice in recent Austrian fiction, using humour and satire to explore community, rural life and social conventions. Her debut novel Nincshof received several literary awards, and Sebauer also won both the 3sat Prize and the Audience Award at the Bachmann Competition. Set in a fictional village on the Austrian-Hungarian border, the novel playfully explores ideas of disappearance, outsiderhood and the desire for a slower way of life.
