Natalka Sniadanko is a Ukrainian writer, journalist and literary translator and an internationally recognised representative of contemporary Ukrainian literature. Her fiction often explores Central and Eastern European history, identity, cultural crossings and the everyday consequences of major historical transformations. Her novel The Neat Orders of Archduke Wilhelm uses the figure of Archduke Wilhelm of Austria to revisit the twentieth-century history of Galicia and Ukraine from a playful, alternative-historical perspective.
