Presentation of "Zeit der Mutigen" by Dimitré Dinev

On the eve of the First World War, Eva, a chambermaid, wants to end her life in the Danube. Instead, the waves carry her into the arms of the young infantry lieutenant Alois Kozusnik. This is the starting point for an epic story built around three major narrative strands and extending all the way to the present day. In his new major novel, Dimitré Dinev explores European history and central questions of human coexistence, creating a literary work of humanism and empathy that won the Austrian Book Prize in 2025.
