Following the success of our previous joint appearances, we are delighted to return to the 31st International Book Festival Budapest between October 01 and 04, 2026, with a German Collective Stand.
Austria, Germany and Switzerland will be the Guests of Honour at the 31st International Book Festival Budapest, presenting a diverse programme featuring some of the most exciting voices in contemporary German-language literature. A special focus will be placed on authors with Hungarian roots and Hungarian-German perspectives, whose work builds literary and cultural bridges between the two countries.
Among the invited authors are Katja Brandis, Stefanie Höfler, Martin Korte, Martina Hefter, Eugen Ruge, Sarah Welk, Dimitré Dinev, Tonio Schachinger, Johanna Sebauer, Daniel Wisser, Christian Kracht, Kristina Moninger, Melinda Nadj Abonji, and Nelio Biedermann.
The festival programme highlights the richness and diversity of contemporary German-language literature, with a particular emphasis on novels exploring themes such as family memory, history, migration, identity, minority experiences and pressing social issues. The programme also includes children's and young adult literature as well as popular science titles.
Visitors can look forward to readings, panel discussions, literary conversations and many inspiring opportunities to meet authors and fellow book lovers from around the world.
The full programme will be announced soon.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Budapest!
Please note that photographs and video recordings will be taken during the event.
Please contact Claudia Dobry-Schneider (dobry-schneider@buchmesse.de) if you have any questions about this project.
