You Can’t Go with Me – Inside and Outside the Circles – Workshop with Richárd Sirák

Stefanie Höfler’s novel You Can’t Go with Me addresses a painful yet familiar subject: bullying, exclusion and prejudice have, in one form or another, played a role in many people’s school lives. But how can we deal with these difficult issues? How can we treat those who are left outside the circle? Are we able to notice them, and who can we turn to when we are the ones in the minority?

Labels, negative self-image, group dynamics and solidarity are the key themes of this emotionally powerful and important book. Drawing on selected passages, this workshop will encourage participants to explore what we can do to replace painful experiences with understanding, empathy and support—both at school and beyond.
