The annual book fair in Guatemala FILGUA has bestowed on Germany the great honour of being next year's Guest of Honour. We are therefore delighted that Germany will be exhibiting for the first time with a Collective Stand at FILUGA 2026, and we are busy preparing a wide and varied programme featuring events on current literary, cultural, economic and political developments in Germany. You can look forward to events with renowned German authors as well as a profound professional programme.
Key topics will include:
The Culture of Remembrance: 30 years since the end of the armed conflict in Guatemala, with Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchú as special guest at the FILGUA 2026.
Democracy and the Constitution: Events are planned in connection with the 2026 judicial elections and the 2027 parliamentary and presidential elections in Guatemala.
Germans in Guatemala: A look at 200 years of history between Guatemalans and Germans, the current state of economic and trade relations, migration of skilled workers, circular migration, and study opportunities in Germany.
Registration for co-exhibitors is open until end of November. I case the deadline is too tight, please get I touch with us directly.
If you are joining a collective stand supported by the BMWE for the first time, we recommend registering on this website (German Pavilion – Online Registration) a little ahead of time. The process can take 2–3 working days, as you'll first need to set up a one-time company profile (e.g. by uploading a commercial register extract) before you can sign up as an exhibitor.
